That’s right, the travel niche. The travel niche has always been a hot market for Adsense earnings, and with travel picking up again after the global pandemic and inflation soaring, it’s a no-brainer to use travel as a way to make good money with Adsense.
It PAYS good money per click…

Making money from Google AdSense is simple with a couple of straightforward steps.
Although it’s no longer considered “Hot” in the online money making world, it’s still a great way to earn passive income.
Pick a niche with plenty of paid advertisers
The key to making money with Adsense is choosing the right niche. Choose a market with plenty of paid advertisers using Google Ads.
Also consider searching for niches with brands, such as Travel, that are running ads on Google Ads. Travel sites that have done well for us have been localized to specific popular holiday destinations.
These are smaller sites consisting of 30 pages and post or less. There are three different revenue streams; Adsense, Affiliate commissions, (Hotels.com, Expedia, ETC.) and direct advertising sales to businesses in the local area (usually hotels, car rentals, and tourist attractions).
The research is simple and pretty straightforward. You could use some of the paid tools available nowadays to cut down your research time, but they’re really not necessary.
It’s always best to start with a quick manual search in Google. Searching Google will reveal if a keyword has a decent number of paid advertisers.
You’ll want to look for “brands”, It’s great to see big brands advertising under a particular keyword. Major travel brands like Hotels.com, Priceline, Kayak, Expedia and other top travel companies use a lot of paid advertising.
The competition drives up the costs up for advertisers, which in turn increases the cost per click when somebody clicks on Adsense ads.
Use the free Google Keyword Planner to research keywords, look for keywords which have a suggested bid of at least £1/$1 and have a “high” competition rating. See the example below.
At this stage, you don’t have to worry too much about the search volume of individual keywords.
You want to make focus on a good search volume across a range of keywords, rather than stressing over the search volume for each keyword individually.
Pick a selection of keywords under a very targeted niche. For example. “Orlando” is too broad, there is too much SEO competition, making it harder to get traffic.
Instead pick laser targeted sub-niches related to travel, such as “Pet-Friendly Orlando Vacations”, then pick a range of keywords related to that sub-niche.
For example…
Your laser targeted niche: Pet-friendly Orlando Vacations
Related keywords: Pet-friendly Orlando hotels, Pet-friendly Orlando bed and breakfasts, Pet-friendly Orlando cottages, Pet-friendly Orlando restaurants, Pet-friendly Orlando pubs. etc.
Once you have chosen a niche and found some related keywords with a high suggested bid you can move onto creating your site.
Build a clean, simple site!
The screenshot below is an example of a good layout for your sites.
Don’t get carried away with your Adsense placements. I’m sure you all know that a site with an excessive number of ads really spoils the user experience and makes it hard to navigate the page.
Google likes websites that are built with a good user experience for the end user. WordPress is a great platform for building Travel related Adsense sites and there are tons of free and paid themes you can use to build incredible websites.
The two WordPress themes I use the most are; Newspaper and Bimber. They are both paid and the range from about $49 – $79.
You can do a quick Google search for “Cheap Bimber Theme” or “Newspaper Theme Group Buy” as an example to find sellers who are offering the theme at deep discounts.
The two themes mentioned above that I use, offer great Ad placements that easily allow you to paste your Adsense code.
I highly recommend these themes if you’re serious about building a network of niche sites. Also, knowing that so many people are accessing websites from their mobile phone nowadays, it is very important that you ensure all your websites are mobile friendly.
Make sure your site displays your Adsense ads correctly in responsive mode! This is very important if you’re sending traffic to your niche site from social media, there is high chance it will be mobile traffic.
Speed is a very important metric, and it’s especially important for mobile users, so make sure your site shows a responsive Adsense unit quickly, but also ensuring the ads are below the fold to comply with Adsense policies.
Provide unique content that visitors to your site will engage with. Do your research thoroughly and fact check when necessary.
There is no quick fix for this, meaning, stay away from spinning software. They just create a bunch of rubbish that search engines don’t like and most likely won’t even index your posts.
If you’re not a great writer then hire somebody to write your articles for you. I like to outsource a lot of my article writing at services like hirewriters.com and iwriter.com.
The prices I pay usually range from $12 – $20. That’s a great value for a good well written article. The benefit of such a service is that these writers save you the time of researching and then writing by doing it for you.
There is no hard and fast rule to how many words you need to write for your posts. Basically, you want to be in the average keyword count of what the top 10 search results for a specific keyword have.
Drive quality traffic
Getting targeted visitors to your niche websites is probably the hardest part of the whole process. In order for people to click on your Adsense ads, you must first get them to your website.
My main sources of traffic for my Adsense niche sites are Facebook, Twitter, Youtube/TikTok & organic SEO traffic.
Facebook – The best way to drive traffic from Facebook is to create a page or group. I post snippets from articles on my websites which link back to the original article. I schedule these updates to post automatically every few days when starting out.
In order to get “likes” on your Facebook page, you can either network and interact with other pages and groups in your niche, or use Facebook ads, which I do a lot to get things rolling really fast.
Once I have a few thousand likes, I find the page starts to grow organically as people share the posts with their friends.
Twitter – Twitter is pretty simple to get steam going. Use Tweepi to quickly grow your Twitter following, schedule your Tweets which link back to your articles and then rinse and repeat.
Organic SEO – Once your website is a few weeks old, you will notice your articles will start to appear for a range of long-tail keywords in Google’s organic search results.
You can then focus on creating more articles and growing your website organically. Once your website is a few months old, you can analyze the analytics of the website and see which pages are performing well.
You can then focus on these pages and look for additional SEO opportunities to rank highly for a variety of keywords.
Clone & Repeat
As you can see from this Adsense case study, it’s not too difficult to get a small niche travel site earning some decent money with Adsense.
These small niche sites have a traffic ceiling, as it can be difficult at times to find lots of relevant content.
Keep your social media profiles updated with fresh content from other users to keep your audience hungry for your posts.
You can then start re-posting your old articles on a semi-frequent basis in between the content you share with other users.
Focus on adding one or two new blog posts a month and you will have a site that generates passive income for years to come.
Once you’ve mastered the method, start to churn out more and more of these sites and you will have a nice passive monthly income.
You can leverage these sites by adding affiliate links and offering paid banner ads.
